Alan Rogers Review
Camping La Pineta is two kilometres from the center of Viareggio, famous for its four-week-long carnivals. The tradition was started in 1873, and the parades continue to attract tourists form all over Italy. The campsite has recently undergone major changes and now boasts two new swimming pools and a superb restaurant. The pitches vary in size and most have shade. Bungalow-style chalets can be rented. The surrounding pine wooded area and proximity to the sea help to keep the air refreshingly cool. The nearest private and free beaches are just over one kilometre to the west. Dogs are accepted in low season.
Situated close to the coast in Tuscany and just 75 km. from picturesque Florence, make this an excellent location for cultural and seaside activities. The campsite owners can suggest many day trips incorporating fascinating medieval churches, picturesque villages and archaeological sites, or local walking and cycling routes through the pine trees. Evening entertainment might include visits to the opera and some of the lively nightclubs that cater for all ages and tastes.
