Alan Rogers Review
Set in countryside 24 km. northwest of La Roche-sur-Yon, Saint Etienne-du-Bois is a quiet village, well away from the big Vendée resorts. This delightful campsite, owned by the local council, has 40 grassy pitches (most slightly sloping), all with electricity, water and drainage. Pitches are marked by low hedges giving the site an open and sunny aspect. Although inland, it is only 20 km. to the coast with its large sandy beaches. There are also many places to visit inland in the Vendée, and this excellent value municipal site provides a great base for exploring the whole region.
The modern, heated toilet block includes some washbasins in cabins. Laundry facilities. Reception sells bread and a few other essentials. Small unheated pool (June-Aug). TV room. Small play area. Two free tennis courts. Daily events listed and occasional animation in high season. Charcoal barbecues only permitted in the communal area.

From Legé take D978 south (Palluau) for 7 km. Turn left on D94 (St Etienne-du-Bois). Go through village and, out the other side, cross bridge over river. Site is 50 m. further, on right.
