Alan Rogers Review
Situated in the centre of Goudargues (the Venice of the Gard), close to the Cèze river, La Grenouille is a gem of a campsite. A friendly welcome is guaranteed from Renaud who takes great pride in keeping the 50 grassy, hedged, mostly shaded touring pitches and first class facilities neat and tidy. All have 6A or 10A electricity connections (long leads may be required for some). Most are easily accessible and there are views of the historic village and church. Care should be taken with small children as a shallow stream runs through the site. In Goudargues, within walking distance, you will find shops, bars, restaurants, tourist information and a colourful weekly market. Don’t miss the impressive ‘Lavoir’ where fresh spring water sprouts from an ornate frog and a visit to the ice-cream parlour is a must.
The medieval village of Roque-sur-Cèze which is classified as one of the most beautiful in France is just 5 km. away. It stands on a steep hill from where you can enjoy scenic views across vineyards and the valley below. For the more energetic there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling in the area. In the early summer, if you are lucky, you may spot a Hoopoe bird around the campsite.
Two sanitary blocks include washbasins in cabins and hot showers. Good facilities for disabled visitors. Large baby bath. Laundry facilities. Motorhome service point. Fridge hire. Enclosed swimming pool (1/4-15/9, no Bermudas). Paddling pool. Playground. Fishing in river. Free WiFi on part of site. Tourist information.
LocationFrom the A7 take exit 19 to Bollène. Take D994 to Pont St-Esprit and the N86 south to Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Shortly before Bagnols turn west, D980 to Goudargues. In Goudargues turn south and site is well signed. Link to campsite location map on google
