Alan Rogers Review

Close to the Côte Sauvage and the Plage de Chaucre, this friendly, family run site is probably best suited to couples looking for a quiet, relaxing break. It is in a protected area of the state forest, 400 m. from one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. There are 66 good sized, grassy pitches, some open, others among tall pine trees and 16 units for hire. Most have electricity (10A), water and drainage. The surrounding area is well worth exploring and has numerous cycling and walking routes. The focal point of the site is a small wine bar. Owners of large outfits should phone ahead to reserve the larger pitches.

The Ile d’Oléron is renowned for the quality of its cycle tracks, and a number of these run close to the site. Saint Georges is one of the island’s most important centres; with a strong Napoleonic heritage it is a pleasant place to explore. Nearby, Boyardville was established for the construction teams working on the offshore Fort Boyard, and is now a popular resort in its own right.
