Sithonia is the middle of three peninsulas on Halkidiki and is a popular Greek tourist destination with a good motorway south from Thessaloniki to Neos Moudania. Camping Iza is one of the larger sites on Sithonia and therefore has more facilities than many smaller sites. Behind a good sandy beach and amongst mainly olive and willow trees, the 215 pitches are clearly marked, and some have high screens to offer some shade. Only the two front rows have sea views.
Many people visit the area to see Mount Athos and the monasteries on Agio Oros, the third peninsula. This is a closed area and opens only to a limited number of visitors (men over the age of 18 only) each day with prior approval. However, numerous boat trips are available to take you around this interesting historical area.
Facilities
Three toilet blocks include showers, WCs and washbasins. Laundry with washing machines and ironing boards. Motorhome services. Beach bar. Shop. Restaurant. Sandy beach. Fishing, boating and swimming. Dogs are not accepted.
Location
Camping Iza is on the Sithonia peninsula. Follow the main coast road some 18 km. south of Neos Marmaras. Turn right (well signed) and site is 700 m. down this smaller road.
