Alan Rogers Review

Camping Het Zwarte Schaar lies on the banks of the River Ijssel, north of Doesburg on the borders of the beautiful areas of Achterhoek, Veluwe and Liemers. It is in an ideal spot for day trips by bicycle, car, boat or on foot. The Burgers Zoo and Open Air Museum in Arnhem are within easy reach. There are around 400 pitches with about 100 for touring, some alongside the river and others inside a dyke, a few have some shade. Some pitches near the river have 10A electricity and others, inside the dyke have 6A electricity water and waste water. The toilet blocks are very modern and well appointed and include four private bathrooms to rent.

The Hanseatic town of Doesburg, with its Wednesday market, was founded in 1237 and is one of the seven walled towns along the River IJssel. The city of Arnhem, made famous by the very important World War II battle, is well worth a visit. The Open Air and National Heritage Museum with its history of everyday life, the zoo and safari park are highly regarded by visitors.
