Alan Rogers Review

Heidestrand is a large family site of 30 hectares with a broad range of facilities. The site can be found north of Hasselt in the Flemish province of Limburg. There are over 600 seasonal pitches here and around 90 touring pitches, all with electricity and water. The site boasts an excellent outdoor swimming pool with a separate paddling pool, slides, diving tower and diving pool, as well as a large shallow swimming pond with a sandy beach. A separate fishing pond is well stocked with a wide variety of coarse fish.

Hasselt is an attractive town dating back to the 7th century. The centre is car-free centre and contains some interesting historical buildings including the 12th-century cathedral of Saint Quentin and the Herkenrode abbey refuge. The Grote Markt is a pleasant square lined with cafes and restaurants. The nature reserve at De Bolderberg is also within easy reach and contains a number of excellent walks.

Two toilet blocks have free showers and facilities for disabled visitors, but may be stretched in peak season. Laundry in one block (some distance from touring field). Swimming pool complex. Supermarket. Bar and restaurant. Snack bar. Disco. Sports fields. Play area. Leisure pavilion for children. Entertainment for children. Dance evenings. Boat hire. Fishing ponds. WiFi in reception (charged).
