Alan Rogers Review

Framura is an unusual, small, cliff-side site of 170 pitches including just 15 pitches for touring units and ten for tents. Positioned on the site of the old railway, the pitches themselves are fabulous as they are directly above the crystal clear waters here, but there is no shade. Access to the site is through the old railway tunnel. The supporting amenities are basic but have a certain charm, some being cut into the rock face. Direct access to a narrow but pleasant beach is via a steep stairway. The site is considered unsuitable for children and the infirm and has no facilities for disabled visitors.

It would suit the more adventurous camper who needs little support and enjoys a challenge. One permanent pitch is a charming 20 m. railway carriage. The site is twinned with the Hotel Riviera through the tunnel and the pleasant restaurant here can be used if you have missed the supermarket in town.

Facilities

Five very mixed blocks offer clean but basic toilets, mostly Turkish but some British style. Innovation has been used here and one very small shower block is carved into the rock face. Cold water at sinks. Washing machine. Motorcaravan services. Simple snack bar and takeaway (1/6-15/9). Bar (1/4-30/10). Small shop (15/6-15/9). Canoeing and windsurfing is possible. Fishing. Dogs are not accepted.

Directions

From A12 take exit to Deiva Marina. Proceed to town centre. Take care to find campsite signs! Cross narrow bridge and negotiate the narrow approach road. You end up facing a narrow railway tunnel. Check for cyclists in the dark interior and drive through to site! If you need to avoid the 3 m. height restriction tunnels to the west, be aware that the road to the north is difficult for larger units in places.
