Alan Rogers Review
After a pleasant drive through the Sanabria National Park you reach this unspoilt site alongside a beautiful lake. It has green hills to the east and a lake of glacial origin to the west. It is a large site with the majority of the pitches given over to tents, as the terrain is rugged and strewn with enormous rocks, whilst being sheltered by fine dense oaks. The pitches are informal and tents are placed anywhere on terraces or the lower levels. Pitches for caravans and motorcaravans are in more formal lines near the site entrance with 6A electricity available. All the buildings are primarily of wood and stone and designed to be in sympathy with the surroundings.
The nearby lake shores are public areas but there are toilets along with picnic and barbecue facilities. There are magnificent walks all around the site and much to see in the area, from many spectacular canyons to Saint Martin’s Monastery, the local castle or you can even venture into Portugal (25 km). The owners have another smaller site, also near the lake, if you prefer to really ‘get away from it all’.
Three sanitary blocks provide controllable showers and facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine and dryer. Motorcaravan services. Shop (July/Aug). Bar. Self-service and full restaurants. Play area. Torches essential. Free WiFi around reception and restaurant.
