Alan Rogers Review

This very good value site, with a long season, is a convenient base for exploring Dijon, the former capital of the Dukes of Burgundy. The city centre can be reached in 30 minutes on foot, by bicycle or by bus. There are 121 level pitches, most are on grass but some have hardstanding. Most pitches are separated by low hedging and mature trees give varying amounts of shade. The lake is within easy walking distance and has a large beach with kayaks for hire. Access easy for large outfits.

Lac Kir is named after a former mayor of the city who gave his name to the famous drink. It is a delightful haven for swans and duck and extends over 37 hectares. It has a large, attractive beach and a range of footpaths and cycle tracks starting at the lake. Dijon is one of France’s major cities and has often played an important role in French history. The magnificent Ducal palace is well worth a visit. South of Dijon, some of Burgundy’s great vineyards, such as Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée. The tourist Route des Grands Crus is particularly recommended.

Two old but adequate toilet blocks with facilities for campers with disabilities (rebuilding planned). Motorcaravan services. Basic shop and bar (all season). Snack bar, takeaway (May-Sept). Small play area. No entertainment. WiFi.

The site just west of Dijon. From A38, exit 33 end of the autoroute, take N5 towards Dijon. At end of lake, at traffic lights, turn right site signed. Immediately fork right, under underpass (3 m. high) to site.
