Camping Devezeau has recently been acquired by its current English owners. They have lovingly restored the buildings and pitches to create an attractive and well equipped site, with water and 6A electricity available to all 29 pitches. There are eight mobile home pitches and the remainder are for touring units. Mature hedges divide the pitches and each is lit with its own solar lamp. The sanitary block is a restored barn with new facilities. Next to the swimming pool there is a restaurant serving food in a friendly and welcoming ambience. The owners clearly enjoy the company of their campers and do all they can to make their stay enjoyable.
For those wishing to explore into the local area, riding, fishing and canoeing on the Charente and Tardoire rivers are all possible. For the more daring, there are giroplane microlight excursions nearby. Whether you are looking for a peaceful break on your journey further south, or for a base from which to explore the cities of Bordeaux, Limoges and Cognac, you cannot fail to be impressed by this bijou site. Further afield, the tragic village of Oradour remains as a testament to the folly of war. Devezeau is becoming well known as a stopping point on the ancient pilgrims’ route of St Jean de Compostelle. Tucked away in the Charente region, the site offers tranquillity and an opportunity to ‘get away from it all’.
