Les Etangs du Plessac is northwest of Brantôme, in the Périgord Vert and within the Parc Naturel du Périgord Limousin. This pleasant, spacious site is sure to appeal to anglers thanks to its well stocked fishing lakes. There are 80 good sized, slightly sloping, grass pitches with 30 for touring, and a variety of trees, some very new, give varying degrees of shade. All have electrical connections (10A). There is a separate hardstanding are for motorhomes. A number of mobile homes and chalets are available to rent. During peak season, various activities and entertainment are organised.
The Périgord is, of course, renowned for its fine gastronomy, thanks in large part to its varied agriculture. There are also many fine wines – notably Bergerac, Monbazillac and Péchannant. Brantôme is only a few minutes from the site and is one of the region’s most picturesque towns. The River Dronne runs through the town and, thanks to its waterways, Brantôme has become known as the Venice of the Périgord. The Jardin Botanique d’Alaije is of particular interest with over 800 species of plants, many of them rare.
