Alan Rogers Review
L’Orient is an attractive, good quality municipal site in a quiet, green location close to the historic town of Tournai and convenient for the E42. It is immaculately kept by its manager. The 50 level, grassy, individual pitches (all for touring units) are separated by laurel hedges and have shade in some parts and 16A electricity. Adjoining the site is an attractive restaurant and bar with a superb terrace overlooking the lake where campers can fish and hire pedalos. There is also a new, high quality pool complex with cafeteria, indoor pool with spectator seating and outdoor pool with water slides.
Tournai centre should not be missed with its oldest belfry in Europe. You can also see the cathedral and various museums dedicated to decorative arts, folklore, tapestry and military history. There is a good network of cycle ways and footpaths around the town, some of which appear in the brochure given to visitor on arrival at the site.
Two modern sanitary units are of high quality, spotlessly clean and heated in cool weather. They include some washbasins in cubicles and roomy showers on payment. Washing machine and dryer. Facilities for disabled campers (but no ramped access). Basic provisions available from reception (bread can be ordered).
LocationFrom E42 exit 32 take N7 towards Tournai centre, taking second exit at roundabout. Turn left at first traffic lights (site signed), left at small roundabout and site entrance is immediately on the left. Link to campsite location map on google
