Alan Rogers Review
Camping de Gourjade is a family run site set in a country park which belongs to the town of Castres. It has the river running along one side and the country park on the other. There are 100 level pitches (86 for tourers), all with electricity (6/10A) and separated by well trimmed hedges, and some with shade. Those nearest the river are sloping and can be soft. There is a barrier at the entrance and a night watchman for security. A play area caters for children of 3-12 yrs and there is a small swimming pool on site.
The adjoining country park has everything – larger indoor and outdoor swimming pools with slides etc, minigolf, a miniature railway and a 9-hole golf course. In July and August competitions are organised. A boat makes regular trips for the 2 km. journey into the centre of Castres for markets and museums.
The two well appointed toilet blocks have facilities for disabled visitors and baby room. Maintenance and cleaning are variable. Washing machine, dryer. Motorcaravan services. Small shop, bread. Attractive restaurant. Small swimming pool. Bicycles kept at reception (free use for campers). Barrier card deposit €15 (main season).
