A well-established campsite which proves popular and busy during the warm winter months. The 179 flat pitches on a stone chip are generally 80-100 sq.m. each with a 6/10amp electric supply. Shrubs and trees (some shade) act as pitch dividers, and those near the road are not overly affected as traffic volume is relatively low. Some areas have shade canopies erected during the hot summer months. Overall, throughout, a peaceful atmosphere.

The oval, tiled pool is in an attractive setting with sunbathing lawns. Close by a large building operating as a bar/restaurant in July/August and as an activity centre during the winter months to possibly include whist, line dancing, socials, painting and crafts. The nearby towns of Garrucha, Vera and Villaricos all have good street markets on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. The hilltop town of Mojacar dates back to 2000 BC. (good views) is geared toward the tourist.

Between the camping and Garrucha (opposite the Consum supermarket) a relatively new protected wildlife area has been created; ‘Salar de Los Canos’. Here, there are strong possibilities to see Flamingos, Marble and White-headed duck, various heron species and the elusive Red-knobbed Coot, to name but a few. Many enjoy the setting sun across this wetland as it reflects across the water.

The well-designed sanitary blocks provide sufficient showers and toilets for all. Accessible facilities, Washing machines and dryer. Water to the taps is to European standard; however, a single tap near reception provides high-quality water from a nearby mountain spring source. Daily fresh bread, emergency provisions and gas from reception. Open-air unheated swimming pool (May-Sept). Caravan storage. WiFi throughout (weekly charge).

Directions to Camping Cuevas Mar

Travelling the A7/E15 from the south take exit 534B and from the north exit 534. Follow signs in direction Vera/Garrucha (N-340). Continue to follow signs Garrucha. On approach to Garrucha, at roundabout, left turn signed Villaricos & San Juan. Continue with this road (approx. 7 minutes) until reaching a roundabout with a Repsol garage. Turn left direction Palomares & Cuevas del Almanzora. Site is on the right in 400 metres just after right hand bend.
