Alan Rogers Review
If you’re looking for basic site with good sanitary facilities and in a great location, then here it is. Camping Chapella doesn’t even boast a reception but it has glorious views of the valley with its pine-covered slopes and snow-capped mountains. The railway sits at a higher level than the site will give some noise. There are 100 pitches, 80 for touring; some are level and all have 16A electricity. However, they are unmarked and are clearly allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis so do not expect a large space and access to electricity when it is busy. There are warning signs about entering the river, which is about 50 feet below the level of the site, because the water level can be suddenly affected by hydro-electric power activity further upstream.
The modern heated toilet block is of a good standard and well maintained, with free hot showers and some washbasins in cabins. Washing machine and dryer. Motorhome services. Groceries and fresh bread (5/5-15/9). Playground. River swimming. WiFi (charged).
LocationSite is on road no. 27 (St Moritz-Zernez). After 16 km. from the Pontresina roundabout you approach a bridge over the En. On the left is Chapella, on the right is the railway viaduct. Turn right through narrow first arch of the viaduct, curving into the site. Link to campsite location map on google
