Alan Rogers Review

Le Chant des Oiseaux is located in the attractive, wooded Maine-Geoffroy district of the popular seaside resort of Royan. This is a good value, family site, open for a long season. There are 150 large grassy pitches, most of which have electrical connections. They are mostly shaded although a few sunnier ones are also available. There are also a number of fully equipped mobile homes to rent. The main appeal here is sure to be one of Royan’s fine sandy beaches, but the site also boasts a large swimming pool (with separate children’s pool). Other on-site amenities include a small shop and snack bar.

Royan boasts an unusually high sunshine record (around 2,600 hours each year) and is one of the region’s premier resorts. There is an excellent range of inviting restaurants, many specialising in seafood. The town is surrounded by forest, notably to the west, leading to the little resort of La Palmyre, famous for its excellent zoo. Trips to the Atlantic islands of Oléron and Aix are also popular.
