Alan Rogers Review
On the edge of the village of Vilanova, nestling in granite foothills with superb views from its elevation of 950 m, this is a welcoming and peaceful site. The 215 pitches are on terraces formed with natural stone and with good access. With 120 for touring units (all with 6A electricity), the remainder are occupied by seasonal caravans. The upper tent pitches have wonderful views. Hedges and trees separate pitches providing a pleasant green environment and some shade. The site has won awards for its approach to ecology. From here it is possible to enjoy the wonderful Prades mountains or a day on the beach, an hour’s drive away.
The swimming pool (supervised) is attractively set, with grass surrounds and a terrace for sunbathing. The new bar/restaurant offers a comprehensive choice including regional dishes and its set menu is good value. One of the strengths of this site is the range of adventure and outdoor activities on offer, including climbing, abseiling, cycling and archery. There is a horse riding area within the site and guided treks are offered at Whitsun and in July and August. The helpful staff will organise any activity with the help of outside agencies. On site, less arduous activities are also organised for children and adults in season. There is a display of birds of prey and a chance to interact with them.
