Alan Rogers Review

You are assured a friendly welcome on this small, family run campsite, beside the River Lot, is on the edge of a delightful medieval village. The region has many historic towns and villages with châteaux and ancient churches and is close to the Pilgrim route. The local produce, for example Roquefort cheese, is well worth sampling. The site is good for those seeking a tranquil spot with little in the way of on-site activities. There are 71 good sized, grassy pitches delineated by a variety of tall trees giving good shade on most pitches (6-10A electricity). Access to the site is not suitable for large outfits due to the many small twisting roads.

The village of Saint Côme-d’Olt is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has many 17th-century houses and a 16th-century church with its twisted spire, one of just 34 in France. The ancient, fortified gates to this village are still present. Many of the houses have unusual upturned, boat-shaped rooves, designed by Philbert Delhommes, to give more internal space. Espalion (4 km) has a museum housing the inventions of two local men including the first modern autonomous diving machine. A statue of a diver stands in the river in memory of the two inventors. For the more adventurous the long distance GR65 footpath passes through the village.
