Alan Rogers Review
Campsite Apollon is located close to ancient Delphi in Central Greece. This campsite has 120 touring pitches which are marked out on terraces and most of which have some shade. The facilities are basic and could be stretched in high season. The pitches with the best views are those furthest away from the facilities. Several seasonal/permanent pitches are occupied year-round. There is a restaurant on site which offers a full menu.
Delphi, formerly called Pytho is only 1500m away and is serviced by a tourist train transfer from the campsite. This UNESCO world heritage site was considered to be the centre of the world by the ancient Greeks and was the host of the Pythian Games, a precursor of the Modern Olympics. Visit later in the afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day and the crowds.
Free transfer train to/from Delphi. Restaurant & Pool Bar. Mini Market. Take-away meals. Mobile Homes & Caravans to rent. Hot & Cold showers. Chemical toilet disposal. Children's playground. WiFi. Washing machine. Swimming pool. International newspapers and magazines are available.
The campsite is located on the Delphi-Itea road and when accessing the site from the West, via the E65/48 a number of easy switchbacks are encountered. The road is regularly used by coaches visiting the ruins, so som care should be taken.
