Alpenblick is an all-year site, located at the heart of the Bernese Oberland just 100 m. from Lake Thun. Susanne Knecht and George Zehntner took over the site in 2006 and have made many improvements, including an excellent new toilet block. The old reception building has been replaced with a new Swiss chalet housing reception, a bar, restaurant and shop. There are 100 touring pitches and a further 80 residential pitches. The touring pitches all have 10/16A electrical connections and 18 good hardstanding pitches are available for motorhomes. Three teepees are available for rent. A larger teepee, complete with bar and indoor barbecue, is used for socialising in the evening and is very popular with campers and local residents.
All campers here receive a special tourist card with many benefits including free local bus transport. This is, of course, a superb area for cycling and walking. The lake is very popular for all manner of watersports and cruisers depart from a point very close to Alpenblick. The site’s restaurant specialises in local food such as ‘schnitzelbrot’ and dining on the terrace is possible in good weather.
