Located at the gateway to the Ile de Ré, le Platin is just a short walk from the pleasant village of Rivedoux Plage where there are several good restaurants and shops. In high season a small market is held every morning in the village square. A long, narrow site, the beach is on one side and the main road on the other. It is divided into small avenues with around 20 pitches in each. All have 10A electricity and most are shaded (with 45 hardstanding), although the pitches nearest the beach have little shade (but the best views). Of the 182 pitches, 45 are used for canvas bungalows for hire, the rest are seasonal and for touring.
Popular with motorhome owners, le Platin has a short stay area outside the barrier, and a bus stop 100 m. away makes it easy to explore the island and also to visit La Rochelle on the mainland. A cycle track runs alongside the site. Direct access onto the beach makes it an ideal spot for families, and sea fishing is a popular activity here. The beach is a hive of activity at low tide when the oyster beds are exposed.
