Alan Rogers Review

Opened in 1996, this campsite is not only well placed for Dublin, but also offers a welcome stopover if travelling to the more southern counties from the north of the country, or vice versa. Despite its close proximity to the city, and the constant noise from the dual carriageway, being located in the 300-acre Corkagh Park gives it a ‘heart of the country’ atmosphere. There are 113 pitches on hardstanding for caravans, laid out in bays and avenues, all fully serviced (10A Europlug). Maturing trees and shrubs separate pitches and roads are of tarmac. Beyond the entrance gate and forecourt stands an attractive, timber-fronted building housing the site amenities.

The imposing reception building includes information, reading, TV and locker rooms plus a shop and some sanitary facilities. After a day of sightseeing in Dublin, which can be reached by bus from the site (exact change required for bus – see notes in reception), Camac Valley offers an evening of relaxation with woodland and river walks in the park or a number of first class restaurants and pubs within easy driving distance. The site entrance and sign are distinctive and can be spotted in adequate time when approaching on the busy N7.
