Alan Rogers Review
This delightful park with riding stables on site, is on the edge of Exmoor. The stone packhorse bridge over Horner Water beside the farm entrance sets the tone of the park, which the Dascombe family have created over the last forty years having previously farmed the land. The farm buildings have been converted into riding stables with escorted rides available (from Easter). Touring and tent pitches are on a partly sloping field with marvellous views, or a flatter location in a clearing by the river, while 20 caravan holiday homes are in a separate area. Electrical hook-ups are available (16A), although some require long leads (25 m). There are six fully serviced pitches.
With walking, birdwatching, plenty of wildlife to observe, pretty Exmoor villages and Lorna Doone country nearby there is much to do. Children can ride, play in the stream or explore the woods at the top of the site. Limited trout fishing is available in Horner Water (NT permit) alongside the park.
Facilities
The very well equipped, heated toilet block provides controllable hot showers and washbasin cubicles for each sex, hairdressing and shaving areas, laundry room, unit for disabled visitors and babies. A second older block is opened in high season with extra WCs and washbasins. Motorhome services. Well stocked shop doubles with reception (from 1/4). Riding stables. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and exercised off site. Free WiFi.
