Alan Rogers Review
Bosworth Caravan Park is a friendly, family run site in the village of Cadeby near Market Bosworth, and occupies buildings that were formerly the gatehouse to Bosworth Hall. The site has 22 fully serviced pitches on hardstanding and a further 20 grass pitches with electricity. Young hedges offer some shade and the perimeter of the ground is wooded. Tourists have flocked to the area since the discovery of the body of King Richard III in nearby Leicester. The battlefield where this last Plantagenet King lost his life is within walking distance of the campsite. Visitors can spend a fascinating day there enjoying the visitor centre and restaurant.
The site itself is pleasantly landscaped with well-maintained pitches. The central, green area has been left unoccupied to give a feeling of spaciousness. Paths around the site lead into lanes, and walkers and cyclists can explore for miles with very little traffic, passing through picturesque villages where visitors can enjoy a drink in one of the many pubs. Excellent food is also available, including award-winning fish and chips. The original gatehouse and outhouses on the site have been sympathetically converted into lodges to rent, staff accommodation and reception. Visitors should report to this area upon arrival to check in.
You will find a traditional sanitary block and also a newer block which is heated and free of charge. Access is not specifically designed for disabled visitors. Washing machine and dryer, iron and ironing board. WiFi (charged). The owners are also re-building on site the last house that King Richard 111 stayed in, as well as a small museum and restaurant which they hope will be ready for easter 2018.
