Spain, Comunidad Valenciana, Castellón, Benicasim
Alan Rogers Review
A well organised site with extensive facilities that is popular all year. It is a 300 m. walk to a good beach, and parking is not too difficult. The site has 320 pitches (60-90 sq.m), all with electricity (6/10A), and a variety of bungalows, some attractively built in brick. There are dedicated ‘green’ pitches for tents. Bonterra has a clean and neat appearance with tarmac roads, gravel covered pitches, and palms, grass and trees that give good shade. Overhead sunshades are provided for the more open pitches in summer. There is a little road and rail noise.
The site has an attractive pool complex including a covered pool for the winter months. The beach is good for scuba diving or snorkelling – hire facilities are available at Benicasim. This is a well run, Mediterranean-style site with English spoken by reception staff. It is usefully located for visiting attractions such as the Carmelite monastery at Desierto de las Palmas, six kilometres distant, or the historic town of Castellon.
Four attractive, well maintained sanitary blocks provide some private cabins, some washbasins with hot water, others with cold. Baby and dog showers. Facilities for disabled campers. Laundry. Motorhome services. Restaurant/bar with takeaway. Shop. Swimming pool (heated Sept-June) and paddling pool. Playground (some concrete bases). Tennis. Boules. Multisports court. Small gym (charged). Disco. Bicycle hire. Miniclub. Satellite TV. WiFi over site (charged). Dogs are not accepted in July/Aug.
LocationFrom E15/AP7 take exit 46 to N340. Site is on the quiet old main road running through Benicasim. Leave N340 at km. 987. At roundabout turn left and travel for 1.5 km. to site on left (white walls). Look for supermarkets, one 200 m. before site and a second directly opposite. Link to campsite location map on google
