Alan Rogers Review

There is a heart of the country feel about this ‘on the farm’ site, yet the city of Cork is only an 8 km. drive. What makes this friendly, family run park so appealing is the welcome you receive on arrival and the friendliness throughout your stay. Its secluded location and neat spacious pitches add to its appeal. The terrain on the three-acre park is elevated and gently sloping, commanding views towards Blarney Castle and the surrounding mountainous countryside. The 80 pitches, 40 of which have hardstanding and 10A Europlug, are with caravans near the entrance with tents pitched slightly further away. There are gravel roads, well tended young shrubs and a screen of mature trees. Tidy hedging marks the park’s perimeter.

In the Blarney area, apart from Blarney Castle, house and gardens, there are shops, restaurants, pubs with traditional music and an abundance of outdoor pursuits such as walking, riding and fishing, and easy access to sightseeing in Cork. Ireland’s second city is worth a visit, highlights for many being a trip to the pretty harbour of Cobh, and for others a tour of Jameson’s Distillery. A little further away is the famous ‘gastrohub’ and boat centre of Kinsale.

Excellent toilet facilities are housed in converted farm buildings. Reception and small shop are now at entrance. Good facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry room. Campers’ kitchen. Motorcaravan services. Shop (1/6-31/8). TV lounge. Playground. WiFi throughout (free). Delightful 18-hole golf and pitch and putt course.

Site is 8 km. northwest of Cork, just off the N20. Take N20 from Cork for 6 km. and then left on R617 to Blarney. Site clearly signed at Maxol petrol station in village, in 2 km.
