Alan Rogers Review

In the English Borders, this site is an ideal base for outdoor life in the Northumberland National Park and for exploring the east. The compact site provides 65 level pitches on grass and hardstanding, all with 16A electricity. There are four camping pods for hire. This is a Club site, but non-members are welcome, as are children and pets. Bellingham, a traditional Northumbrian village, is within easy strolling distance and offers a heritage centre, shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. A local bus stops at the site entrance. Walk to Hareshaw Linn waterfall or visit the Kielder Water and Forest park, nine miles to the west. Hadrian’s Wall is a similar distance to the south.

Cragside (National Trust), the first house to be lit by hydroelectricity, and English Heritage properties are nearby, along with the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens. It is only a short drive or bus ride to Hexham with its market, abbey and the oldest gaol in England, and a little further will take you to Newcastle and to Gateshead, home of the Angel of the North and the Metrocentre.

Excellent sanitary facilities. The ladies, finished in pine, provides washbasins in cubicles, controllable showers and a free hairdryer. The unit for men has been recently tiled. Dishwashing and laundry facilities. Reception provides tourist information, basic food supplies, camping equipment, gas and battery charging. Fridges for hire. An additional building with new heated recreation/TV room, dining area, kitchen, family shower room, additional WCs, drying room and indoor games area. Play area.
