Alan Rogers Review

With its own access to one of Britain’s most attractive beaches, 3.5 miles long with golden sand washed daily by the incoming tide, Beachside is understandably popular with guests of all ages. The park, which has been family owned for over 50 years, has 87 slightly sloping, grass touring pitches, most with 16A electricity, situated towards the back of the site from where there are views across St Ives Bay. Whether one wants to sit and enjoy the views, stroll along the miles of sandy beach or have a go at kite surfing, surfboarding or other forms of watersport, the opportunity is there. The efficient reception has an abundance of useful advice and tourist information. Dogs are not accepted.

With easy access to the A30, the site is an ideal base from which to tour in the western part of Cornwall. Apart from magnificent beaches, hidden coves and an attractive rolling landscape, the region has much to offer in the way of interesting excursions. Although well known attractions such as The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and St Michael’s Mount are all well worth visiting, perhaps the real natural charm of this region can best be appreciated by leaving the main roads to discover the small villages and the coastal landscape from sections of the coastal path. However, be aware that the roads can be quite narrow in places and a good map will be of more use than sat nav.

Modern, well maintained sanitary block with controllable hot showers and facilities for babies and disabled visitors (access to the beach itself challenging). Launderette. Motorhome services. Shop with takeaway. Bar with live entertainment (mid May-mid Sept, from 19.00). Heated outdoor swimming pool with paddling pool (mid May-Sept). Games room with pool tables. Large grass playing field. Site is 1 mile north east of Hayle. From A30 take exit for Hayle (Loggans Moor Roundabout) Head towards Hayle and go straight ahead at double mini roundabouts. Turn right at petrol station following brown tourist sign to Beachside. Site entrance is approx. 0.25 miles on right.
