Alan Rogers Review
This site on the banks of Lake Lipno is on a little peninsula connected to the mainland by a bridge. It is just outside Horní Planá, where you can visit the museum to Albert Stifter, a famous Czech writer and poet. U Plazé is under the same ownership as the Na Plázi hotel 500 m. down the road and is close to a sandy beach. There are some 240 unmarked pitches for touring, all with good shade, and some right on the lake. They are slightly sloping and the sand and gravel access road can be muddy in wet weather.
This area is popular with Czech, Dutch and Danish campers for beach holidays and numerous kinds of watersports, including fishing. The site is useful as a stopover on your way down south since it is close to the Austrian border. It is also a good base to visit the historic town of Cesky Krumlov and Ceské Budejovice.
Modern toilet facilities with British style toilets, open washbasins and controllable hot showers (on payment). Facilities for disabled visitors. Washing machine. Kiosk for basics, serving as a bar in the evening. Restaurant. WiFi (free).
