If you are travelling through Slovakia from Hungary to Poland and looking for a night stop or exploring the central Slovak area, Neresnica is well situated, being on the main 66/E77 highway just to the south of the town. There is inevitably some traffic noise but we did not notice this during our one night stay. The glories of Zvolen lie in the past rather than the present; this basic site, under private ownership, is surrounded by trees with a rushing steam along one side. It is level and has room for 65 units with unmarked pitches of grass from tarmac roads and electrical connections (10A) for about 60%. Apart from Slovak, only German is spoken.

Facilities at Autocamping Neresnica

Two sanitary blocks, one at either end of the site, are basic (cleaning and maintenance variable) with cold water in cabins for washing and hot water for dishes. A few showers have been installed in former WC compartments, but they are at least 16 inches high and, if you are over 5 ft tall, you might have a problem. Still, it is remarkable what you can do with corrugated plastic and sheet metal! Special covered areas have barbecue pits with tables and benches. Bar. Restaurant (at entrance) has an extensive menu with good value meals and sometimes provides music from a violin, cello, zither trio.

Directions to Autocamping Neresnica

From Zvolen centre take road 66/E77 towards Sahy. Site is signed as Neresnica and/or Camping Salas at junction with 50/E571 road to Lucenec. The site is on the left just beyond the Slovnaft petrol station.
