Alan Rogers Review

Applewood is a 13-acre touring park adjacent to the famous Banham Zoo. One day’s entrance fee gives unlimited access whilst on the campsite. Applewood has 200 pitches with 190 on level grass and ten on hardstanding; 120 have 10A electric hook-ups. The large central area has unmarked pitches for those who do not need electricity. Other pitches surrounding this area are in small groups separated by neat laurel hedges. There is a further area with pitches and a large field for rallies. A small number of camping pods are available for hire. Just four minutes walk from the park is a small supermarket, a pub/restaurant, a fish and chip shop and gift shops.

At weekends, one of Norfolk’s largest car boot sales is held in the arena area alongside the site. The zoo is an award winning attraction and home to almost 1,000 amazing animals (open daily from 09.30). Not far away, the ancient market towns of Diss (Friday market) and Thetford are well worth a visit. Many of the scenes from the classic comedy, Dad’s Army, were filmed around Thetford, which is the home to the Dad’s Army museum.

Two toilet blocks, one new and one refurbished, provide clean and adequate facilities. Room for disabled visitors. Washing machine and dryer. Motorcaravan services. Gas supplies. Rally field and function room. Play area. Free WiFi.
