Alan Rogers Review
Appledore is a new, small but spacious, attractive, family run campsite ideal for couples and families with young children and open for a long season. It is close to the Dartmoor National Park and only 2.5 miles from Okehampton. The pitches are on terraces surrounding the toilet block and have wonderful views over fields and woods. There are 40 good sized pitches, all for touring, laid out in small groups giving campers plenty of space; 25 unmarked pitches are on grass, 15 are on hardstanding and 35 have 16A electricity. There is a late arrival area with electricity and water. Bus to Okehampton stops close by.
The owners have made a great effort to landscape the site including the planting of about 4,500 small shrubs and trees. They have built a small fishing lake stocked with carp, where campers can while away the time fishing, for a small fee. This is a great campsite to explore the beauty of north Dartmoor and to relax and recharge your batteries.
