Alan Rogers Review
Close to the northern point of the Ile d’Oléron, Antioche is quietly located within a five minute walk of the beach. There are 130 pitches, of which 87 are occupied by mobile homes, half available for rent, and 43 are for touring units. The pitches are set amongst attractive shrubs and palm trees and all have electricity (16A), water and a drain. The site becomes livelier in season with regular evening entertainment and activities for all the family. A thriving market selling local produce and products is within easy reach on foot and is held daily in high season.
Along the road at Saint Denis-d’Oléron is a busy port and marina with a choice of bars and restaurants, many specialising in seafood including local oysters and mussels. A short drive south takes you to Saint Georges, though for a better choice of shops and restaurants - and a hypermarket - head on to Saint Pierre. There is a good choice of sandy beaches, whilst across the salt marshes at Boyardville you can take out a canoe or go on a boat trip across to historical Fort Boyard, or to the Ile d’Aix.
