Alan Rogers Review

Of County Kerry’s three long, finger like peninsulas which jut into the sea, Dingle is the most northerly. Anchor Caravan Park is 20 km. west of Tralee, the main town, and under 4 km. south of Castlegregory on Tralee Bay. Its situation, just 150 m. from a fine sandy beach, provides ideal opportunities for safe bathing, boating and shore fishing. A secluded and mature, five-acre park, it is enclosed by shrubs and trees that give excellent shelter. There are 30 pitches, most with electricity and 13 also with drainage and water points. Although there are holiday homes for hire, these are well apart from the touring pitches. The approach roads to the park are narrow and may be difficult for larger units.

In this area of great beauty, miles of sand abound and taking in the panorama of mountain scenery from the top of the Connor Pass is a wonderful experience. Dingle and the beautiful Slea Head Drive are within easy reach by car. A boat trip to the Blasket Islands from Dunquin would be a worthwhile excursion.

Toilet facilities (entry by key) are kept very clean and provide showers on payment (€ 0,50), two private cabins, some low level washbasins and a toilet with handrail. No facilities for disabled campers. Laundry facilities (incl. drying room, clothes lines and ironing). Campers’ kitchen with fridges, freezers and seating. Motorcaravan services. Two play areas. Games and TV rooms. Electric barbecues are not permitted. WiFi throughout.

From Tralee follow the N86 Dingle coast road for 15 km. At Camp take the R560 towards Castlegregory. Park is signed from Camp junction. Approach road is narrow and crosses a steep humpback bridge. The site entrance is narrow.
