5 ways to save on your ferry crossing

  1. Travel in low season where possible – on both Brittany Ferries and P&O, low season includes early July and the last week of August.

  2. With Western Channel crossings on Brittany Ferries vessels, it’s cheaper as a rule to travel midweek. The definition of weekends differs during high and low season and depending on whether you are travelling outbound or inbound, so remain flexible where possible and check when you book to get the cheapest available rate

  3. P&O crossings from Dover to Calais are priced according to time of day. Travelling in standard (low) season between midnight and 1.00pm offers the cheapest rates, while in high season, sailings between Sunday and Thursday before 1.00pm are the best value.

  4. Brittany Ferries now has an économie service, which runs to Le Havre and Santander and offers passengers a budget option for their crossing. Facilities are more basic than on other vessels but the same high standard of service is provided.

  5. Take advantage of the great deals available. Caravans go free on selected sailings and routes with Brittany Ferries: travellers to Brittany or the Atlantic Coast can choose a Plymouth – Roscoff crossing priced from just £329*.
