Heathfield Farm Camping

Freshwater, Isle of Wight, South

Alan Rogers Review

Heathfield is a pleasant contrast to many of the other sites on the Isle of Wight, in that it is a ‘no frills’ sort of place, very popular with tenters, cyclists and small camper vans. Despite its name, it is no longer a working farm. A large, open meadow provides 60 large, level pitches, 50 with electricity (10A). Two small fenced areas provide traffic free zones for backpackers and cyclists’ tents. There is no shop as you are only eight minutes walk from the centre of Freshwater. The site overlooks Colwell Bay and across the Solent towards Milford-on-Sea and Hurst Castle.

Facilities

The main toilet unit is housed in a modern, ingeniously customised, Portacabin style unit including a baby changing facility. Showers have two pushbutton controls, one for pre-mixed hot water, the other for cold only. A second similar unit has WCs and washbasins in cubicles, plus facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry facilities. Motorcaravan service point. Gas supplies. Ice pack service. Playing field. Bicycle hire arranged. WiFi (charged). No commercial vehicles are accepted. Gate locked 22.30-07.00.
