Alan Rogers Review
East of the Camargue, past the oil tankers anchored in the Gulf de Fos and south of the Etang de Berre is Martigues. Camping Marius is 7 km. further south, tucked away beside a calanque (or inlet) on this rocky coast. There are steps up and then down to the beach across the rocky cliffs. The site is a colourful oasis, regularly laid out with shade from shrubs and mixed trees. It provides 114 pitches, of which 53 are occupied by mobile homes for rent and 35 are seasonal pitches, leaving 25 for touring units. The pitches are rather small but each has its own sink and water supply.

Approach Martigues from the north on the D5 and cross the Canal de Caronte, continuing south on the D5, then D49 to La Couronne (7 km). At roundabout on outskirts of La Couronne, turn left for Sausset-les-Pins’ and Saint Croix. Site is signed from there. Using the A55 take left turn immediately on crossing the bridge signed Fos (exit 12) and follow road back under bridge until right sign for La Couronne.
