There is a shortage of good sites in the central regions of Spain, but this is one. El Escorial is very large, there are 1,358 individual pitches of which about 600 are for touring, with the remainder used for permanent or seasonal units, but situated to one side of the site. The pitches are shaded (ask for a pitch without a low tree canopy if you have a 3 m. high motorcaravan). There are another 250 pseudo ‘wild’ spaces for tourists on open fields, with good shade from mature trees (long cables may be necessary for electricity).
Facilities
One large toilet block for the touring pitches, plus two smart, small blocks for the ‘wild’ camping area, are all fully equipped with some washbasins in cabins. Baby baths. Facilities for disabled campers. The blocks can be heated. Large supermarket, restaurant/bar and snack bar/takeaway (all year; w/ends only in low season). Disco-bar. Swimming pools (15/5-15/9). Three tennis courts. Two well equipped playgrounds on sand. ATM.

Getting there...
From the south go through town of El Escorial, and follow M600 Guadarrama road. Site is between the 2 and 3 km. markers north of the town on the right. From the north use A6 autopista and exit 47 to M600 towards El Escorial town. Site is on the left.
