Camping Sodankylä Nilimella is a small, quiet site situated alongside the Kitinen River, just one kilometre from the centre of Sodankylä. The site is split into two areas by a small, relatively quiet, public road. The good sized pitches (80 in total) are clearly marked with hedges and 40 have 16A electricity. The reception area also serves drinks and snacks. Sodankylä town itself, at the junction of routes 4 and 5, is home to a small Sami community and is an important trading post, so you will find a variety of shops including supermarkets. The town is also home to the Geophysical Observatory, which constantly surveys the earth’s magnetic field and measures earthquakes using seismic recordings.

Turn off road 4 onto road 5. Site is on the left just after crossing the river. It is well signed and easy to find.
