This is a mountain site in splendid scenery near St Moritz. Pontresina is at the mouth of the Bernina Pass road (B29) which runs from Celerina in the Swiss Engadine to Tirano in Italy. Camping Plauns, some 4 km. southeast of Pontresina, is situated in the floor of the valley between fir clad mountains at 1,850 m. above sea level. There are about 250 pitches for tourists in summer, all with electricity, some in small clearings amongst tall trees and some in a larger open space. In winter the number is reduced to 40. They are neither numbered nor marked and size depends on the natural space between the trees.
