Camping Michelangelo

Firenze, Tuscany, Central

Alan Rogers Review

If you want to see Florence, this is the place, partly because the city is laid out like a tapestry 100 metres below and partly because it is easy to get into the city. A busy, bustling all year site with lots of backpackers, there are 240 flat pitches, half are for touring units. All have electricity (3/10A) and the pitches for motorcaravans and caravans are pleasant. The pleasant bar and wood-fired pizzeria have a large terrace giving unrivalled views over the Duomo – what a backdrop for the entertainers who perform here regularly. Try to be here on 24 June for the St Giovanni celebration, which includes a spectacular fireworks display from directly below the site.

Location

Getting there...
Leave A1 and head for the city centre. Site is south of the river near Piazzale Michelangelo. Come to the river 500 m. east of Ponte Vecchio, then move east along the river bank until signs for Piazzale Michelangelo and camping. Site is off the main road down a steep incline.
