Of the seaside sites on the Vendée, les Ecureuils has to be one of the best, run by a friendly and most helpful family. Just 300 m. from a superb beach, the site is ideally situated for exploring from Les Sables-d’Olonne to Noirmoutier. Developed on what was originally a farm, there are 215 pitches (42 for touring units). On sandy grass, all have electricity (6A, Euro adaptors available free of charge), water and drainage. Well kept hedges and mature trees give shade and privacy, although some more open pitches are also available for sun lovers. The site is popular with British tour operators (60%).

Driving south D38 (St Jean-de-Monts - St Gilles), turn right at L’Oasis hotel/restaurant in Orouet (6 km. outside St Jean-de-Monts), signed Les Mouettes. After 1.5 km. at roundabout turn left (St Hilaire-de-Riez). Site is 500 m. on left.
