Just 350 metres from both the sea and the centre of the little town of La Bernerie, Les Ecureuils is a family run site. The sandy beach here is great for children; swimming is restricted to high tide, since the sea goes out a long way, although at low tide a shallow lagoon remains which is perfect for young children. The site has 163 touring pitches, all with electricity (10A) close by and 19 with their own water tap and drain. There are also 86 mobile homes and chalets for rent and a further 62 privately owned.
Facilities
Two toilet blocks are in traditional French style; some have controllable showers and washbasins in cubicles. Facilities for disabled visitors are not all easily accessible. Baby room. Bar with terrace, also selling bread (1/7-31/8). Snack bar and takeaway (July/Aug). Swimming pools (15/5-15/9). Playground. Only gas barbecues are permitted. WiFi in bar area.

Getting there...
La Bernerie-en-Retz is 5 km. south of Pornic and 26 km. south of the Saint Nazaire bridge. From the D213/D13 (St Nazaire - Noirmoutier) turn west on D66 to La Bernerie. Site is signed to right by railway station before reaching town.
