Alan Rogers Review
A family run site, le Rouge Gorge has 72 touring pitches, plus some units for rent and privately-owned caravans and chalets. The site does accept a small number of workers’ units. Slightly sloping and undulating pitches are on grass in a garden-Iike setting and a small wildlife pond (fenced) is in the centre of the site. It would make a suitable base from which to visit the spectacles of Puy de Fou and the steam railway which runs from Mortagne-sur-Sèvre to Les Herbiers. This is also an excellent stopover for those heading to and from southern France and Spain, or the ski-resorts. The largest Japanese garden in Europe, at Maulevrier, is worth a visit.

Two toilet blocks, one can be heated, with washbasins in cubicles and facilities for disabled campers and babies. Laundry with washing machine and dryer. Bar and shop (bread and basic provisions) (1/7-31/8). Snack Bar/takeaway (15/6-15/9). Heated swimming pool (5/5-30/9). Children’s club and occasional evening entertainment (July-Aug). Boules. Bouncy castle. Trampoline. Playground. Charcoal barbecues are not permitted. TV room. WiFi.

Getting there...
St Laurent-sur-Sèvre is about 10 km. due south of Cholet, just south of the N149. Site is on D111 west of town towards la Verrie, entrance at top of hill on right.
