Just five kilometres from the super sandy beach at Jard-sur-Mer, la Grand Métairie offers many of the amenities of its seaside counterparts, but with the important advantage of being on the edge of a delightful, sleepy village otherwise untouched by tourism. It is a busy well run site with a programme of lively entertainment in high season. The site has 172 pitches (39 touring pitches), all with electricity (10A). The pitches have good shade, are all separated by mature trees and hedges and are reasonable in size, although access to some may prove difficult for larger units.

Two modern toilet blocks are very clean and include washbasins mainly in cabins. Units for disabled visitors. Washing machines and dryers. Fridge hire. Safety deposit boxes. Shop (all season). Smart bar/restaurant and takeaway (all 2/7-27/8). Attractive, heated outdoor pool and paddling pool (20/5-10/9). Indoor pool (all season). Large inflatable slide. Sauna, jacuzzi. Gym. Masseuse visits twice a week. Tennis, minigolf (both free in low season). Games room. Play area. Visiting hairdressing salon. Internet access and WiFi (charged). Children’s club and entertainment in high season.

From Les Sables-d’Olonne take D949 (La Rochelle) towards Talmont-St Hilaire and Luçon; 7 km. after Talmont turn right on D70 to St Hilaire-la-Forêt. Site is on left before village centre.
