Alan Rogers Review
This is the place to get away from it all – situated in the middle of Italy, high in the Abruzzo mountains with views over Barrea lakes. It is an hour from Rome or Pescara, but the village of Barrea with the usual supplies is just 500 metres away. The ebullient owner Tomasso Pasetta and his family make everyone welcome to his site where he attempts to retain a ‘natural’ feel – this means that you shouldn’t expect any luxuries. The facilities are adequate and the 110 informal pitches (100 have electricity) and 50 more for tents are embraced by wild flowers and grasses.

From A25 take route 83 from Celano and site is signed 4 km. before Barrea. Alternatively route 17 from Pratola/Sulmona through Castel di Sangro. then right to route 83 and site is 1 km. before Barrea.
