Located in woodland and on dunes along a two kilometre stretch of sandy beach, just east of the attractive little town of Noirmoutier on the island of the same name, this could be paradise for those who enjoy a simple campsite in a natural setting. On land belonging to France’s forestry commission, this site is operated by Huttopia whose aim is to adapt to the environment rather than take it over. The 398 touring pitches, all with electricity (10A), are situated among the pine trees and accessed along tracks. Those on the sand dunes have fantastic views across the Baie de Bourgneuf. They cost a few euros extra – if you are lucky enough to get one.

Facilities

Five sanitary blocks currently provide basic facilities including preset showers and some washbasins (with warm water) in cubicles. The central one is larger and more modern, and another has been refurbished with controllable showers and hot and cold water to washbasins, although these are open-style; there are two cubicles with shower and washbasin. Facilities for babies and disabled visitors. Hot water to dishwashing and laundry sinks. Washing machines and dryers. Basic motorcaravan services point. Play area. Bicycle hire. Free Internet point in reception. Only electric barbecues allowed.

Getting there...
The Ile de Noirmoutier is 70 km. southwest of Nantes. At La Barre-de-Monts, take D38 across bridge to island and continue 20 km. to Noirmoutier-en-l’Ile. Go through town past three sets of traffic lights and at roundabout turn right following blue signs to ‘Campings’. Site is ahead at roundabout in about 2 km.
