Alan Rogers Review
This is truly a unique site situated within the crater of an active volcano. Solfatara is one of the many volcanoes that surround Naples, Vesuvius being the most widely known. Here you can camp in a pleasant wooded area with basic but modern facilities, yet be just a couple of minutes from the barren moon-like landscape of the other side of the crater with its steaming fumaroles. There are no designated pitches, but there are 100 electricity connections (4A), and you are free to pitch where you like. This is a site (and a sight) not to be missed, but is only for tents and small units, definitely not for any larger units, the problem being the access arch to the site, which is just 2.30 m. wide and is the only way in.

Getting there...
Take the Naples ‘tangenziale’ from the autostrada and exit at junction n11 (Agnano). Follow signs towards Pozzuoli and turn right at traffic lights at the top of the hill. Site is 3.5 km. along this road on the right. Local traffic can be a problem.
