Camping Calypso

Marina di Caulonia, Calabria, South

Alan Rogers Review

This site is at the southern end of the SS106 Taranto - Reggio road and it would take some hours to get there by this route. However, the road from Rosarno to Siderno (SS582) has been improved, with numerous tunnels, and the 36 kilometres across the toe of Italy can now be covered in as many minutes. This is likely to see an increase in tourist development in this arid, rural area, at mainland Italy’s most southern point. Camping Calypso is a simple site providing 96 pitches for touring use with some shade offered by the olive and eucalyptus trees.

Location

Getting there...
Coming from the north the easiest route is via the A3 and leave at the Rosarno exit. Then turn left on SS582 towards Siderno and from there turn north along the SS106. The site is at 123.2 km. Turn sharp right turn down towards a railway bridge. The access road is poor, steep and bumpy.
